Privacy Policy
Effective: March 8, 2026
Imago is a journaling and self-reflection app built around Internal Family Systems (IFS) concepts. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What We Collect
- Account information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address.
- Journal content: Session transcripts, check-ins, mood ratings, notes, and parts you create are stored on our servers so you can access them across devices.
- Usage data: We collect anonymous analytics events (screens viewed, features used, session counts) to improve the app experience. These events are not linked to your journal content.
- Device information: Basic device type and OS version for crash reporting and compatibility.
What We Don't Collect
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
- We do not share your journal content with advertisers or third parties.
- We do not use your journal content to train AI models.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide the core app experience: syncing sessions, parts, and check-ins across your devices.
- To generate AI-facilitated session responses using your in-session messages (processed in real-time, not stored for training).
- To calculate streaks, summaries, and personalized prompts.
- To improve the app based on aggregate, anonymous usage patterns.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on encrypted servers. Session transcripts and personal content are associated with your account and are not accessible to other users. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information.
Your Rights
- Export: You can export all of your data at any time from the Profile tab in the app.
- Delete: You can delete your account and all associated data from the Profile tab. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
- Access: You can view all data we store about you through the app itself.
Third-Party Services
- Anthropic (via OpenRouter): Session content is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI through the OpenRouter API to generate guided session responses. Both Anthropic and OpenRouter provide contractual data protection guarantees. We use OpenRouter's
data_collection: "deny" policy to ensure requests are only routed to providers that do not collect or train on user data.
- RevenueCat: Subscription management. Processes purchase receipts to manage your subscription status.
- Sign in with Apple: Authentication only. We receive the minimum information needed to create your account.
Data Sent to AI Provider
When you use Imago's guided sessions, the following data is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic, via OpenRouter) for real-time processing:
- Session messages (full transcript of the current session)
- Part names, descriptions, and protective roles
- Therapeutic narrative (rolling AI-generated summary of your progress)
- Recent session summaries
- Check-in mood data
- Onboarding responses (intent, pain points, experience level)
- Your name and timezone
This data is encrypted in transit, processed in real-time to generate responses, and is not used for AI model training. Neither OpenRouter nor Anthropic retains your data for training purposes.
Children
Imago is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
